Dr. David Russell grew up in a small town on the Gulf Coast of Alabama.  After graduating from his family medicine residency progam in Provo, Utah, Dr. Russell practiced in Brookings, Oregon and in Belleview, Florida.  Prior to establishing OIFM on Orcas Island, Dr. Russell provided locums (temporary) coverage for practices in California, Utah and the Navajo Indian Reservation.  Dr. Russell's medical interests include preventive health care and health maintenance, dermatologic procedures, office orthopedics and sports medicine, rural health and pediatrics.  He enjoys seeing a wide variety of patients of all ages and all walks of life.  He is active in the community, and has given talks to several groups, including the local EMT's,  the "Self Help for the Hard of Hearing" group, the "Being the Parent You Want to Be" lecture series and students of the Orcas Christian School.   Dr. Russell is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Washington State Medical Association, and is board certified in family medicine.  He currently maintains his ACLS certification, and his most recent medical education seminars have related to Geriatrics, Pediatrics and cardiovascular care.  In his off-hours he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, photography, hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, computers and travel.
